Clean and cheap innovative polyvalent technology for soils and sludges remediation (08 FR 32j2 0J67)
A French research laboratory has patented a new ecological and economical technology for soils and sludges remediation. The technology allows the regeneration of continuous aqueous solution used to extract micro-pollutants from contaminated soils. The laboratory is looking for industrial and academic partners to improve, put on the market or enlarge this technology.

The patented technology allows to regenerate aqueous solutions used to extract micro-pollutants from contaminated soils. The pollutants are concentrated in a minimal volume.
The technology can be used to remove all classes of micro-pollutants from a porous medium. The technology consists in regenerating continuously an aqueous solution, used in-situ to extract one or several micro-pollutants. The micro-pollutants are rapidly concentrated in a minimal volume by liquid-liquid or liquid-solid extraction with non-agressive materials. That lowers the costs for the treatment of pollutants and, in some case, they can be reused as material. The washing solution used to extract the micro-pollutants is a diluted aqueous solution of a specific ligand for the pollutant. It is non-agressive for the operators and the environment. To reuse the washing solution lowers the cost in chemical reactants and allows to use more specific, but more expansive, compounds on large areas.
So far, the efficiency of this technology has been shown for the treatment of soils contaminated by polycyclic hydrocarbons with 95-98 % yields in two days and toxic metals like plomb, nickel and copper.

Innovative Aspects:
Regeneration of aqueous solutions.
Treatment speed.
Ecological and economical solution.
Eco-friendly treatment, safe handling.
Polyvalent solution (adapted to different types of micro-pollutants - several different micro-pollutants can be treated at the same time).
Cheap solution.
Possibility to recycle the pollutants.
