Virtual Reality Geological Studio (10 GB 45P2 3GUS)
A North West University has developed software for viewing, manipulating and interpreting ground penetrating radar data to give more complete and accurate results than currently available and is seeking a suitable partner to licence the technology.
Country: United Kingdom Type: OFFER Date: 07.09.2010
Current methods of interpreting ground penetrating radar (LIDAR) data depend upon the geologist's experience in combining this data with other data recieved from other sources to form a best guess at what the underlying gorund formation and structure look like. A North West UNiversity has developed suite of software that will take the raw LIDAR data, combine it with other source data and produce a three dimensional image for specific terrestrial locations. This development enables the geologists of Oil and Mining companies to reach a more accurate picture of the underground formations under consideration.

Innovative Aspects:
Innovations are: combines several sources of data to build up a 3D image of the under ground area.
Advantages are: Decisions can be reached more quickly and takes the Guess work out of interpreting manually.

Degree of development:
Patents/Rights: Exclusive rights
Requested Cooperation: License Agreement, Joint further development
- Type of partner sought: Supplier of equipment to the oil, gas, mining exploration market.
