Assessing the efficiency of of internal combustion engines has been developed to a fine art in analysing masses of data from sensing the exhaust products, fuel consumption, forces and torques applied and rotational speeds of various components. However, it is time consuming and realies heavily on the analysers experience. A UK North West region University has developed an imaging suite of software and the a kit of appropriate hardware that is capable of assessing and monitoring the engine's performance and presenting the data in the form of images that mimick the happenings within the combustion chambers oft eh engine in real time. This is the only technique in the world that is capable of carrying this task through to completion.
