A Scottish SME is looking for partners with relevant technology to improve the patient interaction with their glaucoma test solution.

The company's solution is software based and requires patient interaction via a mouse or touchpad etc to indicate whether they can see spots appearing in an apparently random order on the LCD screen of the PC, laptop etc.

The distance at which a patient must be from the screen will depend on the size and gradient of the screen but will typically be between the range of 30cm and 80cm, eg. for a 17inch screen the patient must be at a 30cm distance. The required distance is determined by the software programme. A 10% difference in this range would be acceptable.

The company is looking for technologies to ensure that the patient is and remains to be at the required distance for the duration of the test, advising patients on any corrective steps they must make to be in range to ensure reliable results.

Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The company is interested in exploring various technologies eg. image recognition software/camera etc that meet the following requirements:

- Must be able to measure distance of patient from viewing screen (exact range will depend on size of screen used etc but will be 30cm to approximately 1m).

- Must be able to give indication if patient outside the distance range required (integration with software solution to advise patient of corrective action).

- Must be robust. Solution is portable allowing for home visits therefore must be rugged.

- Must be low cost. Home market is considered substantial therefore price point must remain low.

- If appropriate, device would be powered by PC/laptop.
