Fully Remote Programmable Network of Pneumatic Cylinders (10 TR 99PD 3IHS)
A Turkish company has developed a fully remote programmable network of pneumatic barriers with licence plate recognition system. The network can be controlled from a centre via low radio frequency and used for traffic control in urban planning. The company is ready to sign joint venture agreements, technical cooperation for further development and/or commercial agreement with technical assistance. Cooperation with municipalities for implementing the system in different regions is also possible.

In some urban areas vehicles are not desired. However, it may sometimes be necessary to let authorized vehicles such as the police, ambulance and fire engines to pass through. If the certain zone is protected from the traffic flow by irremovable barriers, then it would not be possible for the emergency vehicles to enter the region. Therefore it is a convenient method utilizing pneumatic barriers with licence plate recognition. If the licence plates of the vehicles to be let through are predefined within the system, then the pneumatic barriers sink down and let the vehicle pass over. However, if the vehicle is not predefined within the system then the pneumatic barriers stay up and do not let the vehicle in.
A Turkish company has developed a fully remote programmable network of pneumatic barriers. The system is controlled from a control centre via low radio frequency. The system being applied at the moment is installed at 43 points, on 63 streets by using 110 pneumatic barriers. The aim of the application is to control the traffic flow in a certain urban district. The barriers also include a licence plate recognition system that realizes the regarded control process. The whole system functions by the aid supplied by the cameras installed as well as wireless internet infrastructure.
It is also possible to load the licence plates of stolen and suspicious vehicles into the system. As one of those mentioned vehicles approach, a warning system steps in.
The licence plates that can be recognized by naked eye can also be recognized by the camera integrated to the system. The innovation of the system is that the software being used accommodates with ambient light and weather conditions.
The company is open for technical cooperation for further development and / or commercial agreement with technical assistance. It is also possible signing joint venture agreements as the company seeks financial resources for further technical development and commercialisation of the regarded product. It also seeks cooperation with municipalities for implementing the system in different regions.
Innovative Aspects:
When a vehicle with predefined licence plate gets in the range of the camera, 25 photos are shot in 1 second. The most visible photo is then chosen and the licence plate is matched with the one registered in the system. As the photo is read and matched to a preregistered licence plate, the information is forwarded to the centre. Then the command is given for the pneumatic barrier to sink down. The total duration of the process is 5 milliseconds.
95% of the licence plates approaching to the camera are recognized. So theft is prevented with this technology.
