A French inventor has developed and patented a reusable tree support that allows stocking around 10 litres of water.
When planting young trees, it is recommended to fix them to a support so that they are protected against the wind and do not break. Usually, these supports are made of wood, and are not reusable. The French invention is made of metal and/or composite and thus enables the support to be reused for other plantations.
Moreover, in their first years, it is recommended to water young trees. Many trees die from lack of irrigation. Usually, the irrigation is made directly on the ground inducing cracks during the warm season that destroy all the hoe work. The French support allows to irrigate the tree directly in the ground and thus avoids all ground surface watering issues.
The French tree support is composed of 2 parts: one to be driven into the soil, allowing the stability of the hole, and the second one in a tube shape that both supports the tree and is used as a water reservoir.
The 1st part, made of metal or other strong material, is as thin as a jumper bar. It's driven into the soil, below the hole made to plant the tree, and tops the floor level. It insures the great stability of the whole support.
The 2nd part, made preferably of composite material, is fixed under the 1st part. It's driven into the soil, and it is pierced of holes in its low part in order to allow the water to diffuse directly in the ground. Shaped as a tube, this part is long enough to be used as a support for the tree.
In function of the 2nd part's length and width, over 10 litres of water can be stocked. Thanks to this system, landscape gardeners can fill in the reservoir and thus space out their travelling to irrigate the trees.
Innovative Aspects:
- The support is made of metal and/or composite to avoid using trees to make wood supports.
- It is reusable as it's composed of metal and/or composite and can be used again for other tree plantations.
- Around 10 litres can be stocked in this reservoir: trees are thus regularly irrigated and do not die.
- This reservoir allows landscape gardeners to space out their travelling to irrigate their plantations.
