PS FP7 Security Research Call 4 - Integrated Security CheckPoint (ISCP) (10 IT 54V7 3IG6)
An Italian R&D services company is preparing a proposal for the FP7 Security Research Call 4.
The project aim to develop and demonstrate an innovative airport checkpoint concept.
The consortium is looking for an European company working in the security business as system integrator and distributor and for an European Airport Management Organization already managing the checkpoint security in at least one European airport that could be interested to participate as end user in the project.
Country: Italy
Type: REQUEST

The objective of the project is to develop and demonstrate an innovative airport checkpoint concept, aiming to answer to the topic requirement of designing a better, smarter, more reliable and flexible checkpoint that delivers efficient and cost-effective security and ensures a positive passenger experience at European airports.
A new concept of airport checkpoints used by passengers and crew staff, including their cabin baggage, before boarding airplanes while they are inspected for (visually hidden) prohibited articles, including liquids and gels, under both ordinary or exceptional security measures (for example during a red level alert due to an imminent terrorist attack). The check point is organized using a two layer steps: the first level is a semiautomatic level, characterized by a fast analysis of the hand baggages and people, the second level is dedicated to deeper check of the people in case of alarms generated by the first level and/or profiling alert. This check point will be used also to check all the personnel working in the restricted area. The research is intended for its use in aviation security to comply with regulatory requirements while optimizing operational efficiency, security and cost effectiveness. It aims to influence on the overall checkpoint security performance criteria of governments and authorities responsible for security regulation, while developing truly innovative technologies and solutions. Our goal is to design a better, smarter, more reliable and flexible checkpoint that delivers efficient and cost-effective security and ensures a positive passenger experience at European airports.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The main technical requirements of the project are:
- X-ray scanner to inspect carry on baggages integrating different types of detectors
- Persons inspection tunnel for the detection of illegal substances hidden on the person, using different technologies, including profiling
- Data collection from the several detectors for decision making
The consortium is looking for an European Airport Management Organization already managing the checkpoint security in at least one European airport for an European company already working in the security business as a system integrator and/or distributor and for that could be interested in participating as end user in the project. The partner should be able to participate in the definition of the system requirement specification in a proactive way and to perform the system validation.
