New way to manage male urinary incontinence (09 IT 55X2 3EQN)
An Italian inventor has developed a new solution for managing male urinary incontinence, without the disadvantages of existing solutions. The inventor, in a long career as a nurse, has seen the problems involved in dealing with this very common condition, and thought of a better way. The system allows wearers to be active without discomfort, self-consciousness or risk of leakage. The inventor seeks partners to manufacture and commercialize the device.

Male urinary incontinence is common and sufferers now have several ways to manage the condition: absorbent underwear (similar to nappies / diapers), catheters, and collection pouches that attach with adhesive.
With absorbent garments, wearers may be self-conscious about being in public places and be reluctant to engage in active behaviour. The garments may leak, and in any case the wet padding next to the skin is unpleasant and may lead to ulcers and irritation in bed-ridden patients. In addition, disposing of the used garments contributes to waste management problems.
Catheters require skilled insertion, and may cause irritation.
Another solution on the market uses a drain fitted with a condom-type pouch that attaches to the male member with adhesive. This pouch may detach, causing leakage, or the adhesive may irritate the sensitive skin of this body part.
This invention eliminates all these disadvantages. It is made up of a pouch held in place with straps to a waist belt, and so there is no adhesive to fail or cause a dermatitis reaction. The fit of the pouch allows the skin to breathe. A drain tube leads to a collection bag which can be worn on the leg and so completely hidden under clothing. The system allows the user great freedom of movement and confidence, to enjoy activities such as jogging, riding a bike, playing tennis, etc.
The inventor, a retired nurse, designed the device based on years of experience dealing with incontinent patients and observing the problems associated with absorbent garments and other solutions.
Innovative Aspects:
The invention effectively and comfortably manages the problem without the disadvantages associated with other incontinence products.
