Novel Software based questionaire for neurocleptic drug medication (10 GB 45P2 3IAS)
A North West region of the United Kingdom University has developed a self assessment tool for users and administrators of Neuroleptics drugs. Advantages are that it is simple, easy to use with an intuitive graphical user interface; automates complex analysis and decision making processes and is seeking a suitable partner to take this under license.

Neuroleptics are the drugs of choice in the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar mania and related disorders but suffer from troublesome side-effects such as drug induced parkinsonism, restlessness, facial tics, etc. The severity and patient acceptability of these effects varies widely. Research into the side effects has led to the development of a widely recognized questionnaire-based tool for monitoring patients on such medication. Using this tool developed by a UK North West University makes it possible to optimize the dose and choice of Neuroleptics and other drugs to give good control of the condition yet minimize the unwanted side effects on each patient.
