The laboratory is the only NHS laboratory in the UK dedicated to the testing and evaluation of surgical dressing and medical disposables.

The organisation is a UK NHS laboratory with a sound understanding of Health Service testing requirements and an excellent relationship with industry. They have developed/written many of the key test methods used for surgical dressing and bandages.
Test reports are accepted on a worldwide basis, enabling a single point of testing which can be used to support procurement and tender processes.
The laboratories experts sit on numerous standards committees, including those responsible for gloves, gowns & drapes, IV sets, and luer/non-luer connectors. Many test methods developed by the laboratory have been published as British or European standards and pharmacopoeial monographs.

enable testing of medical devices and demonstrate compliance with
European and International standards, the ability to perform comparative testing on competitor's products, and develop innovative test methods for novel
products.
