A large US company is looking for new breakthrough analytical methods development systems in order to improve speed and quality of molecular characterization and the relationship to chemical and physical properties. These techniques will be used to develop methods to speciate aromatics, carboxylic acids and heteroatom molecules in petroleum. They are interested in supplier agreement, licensing, or contract development and consultancy.

Typical "trial and error" processes for developing new analytical methods can be inefficient. Additionally, methods or directions chosen can be biased by the specialization of individual laboratory personnel and may not always be the most effective from a general standpoint.
The objective is to expand current capabilities with new structured analytical methods development processes or technologies that can reduce methods development time while achieving equal or better quality of results. Finally, sensitivity around total cost for analysis will be an important consideration.
Therefore, the goal of this request is to identify companies/ consultants/ experts with new methodologies, systems or algorithms that can be applied/ adapted for the efficient molecular characterization of new petroleum samples.
Possible approaches might include, but are not limited to:
- Methods from process/quality control that can be adapted for this application
- Approaches from pharmaceutical drug development
- Automation community expertise
- Experimental design expertise.

A successful respondent will:
- Have a novel approach to analytical method development,
- Has applied or could apply novel approaches to molecular characterization.
The goal of the company is to acquire or otherwise adapt new approaches, methods, systems or algorithms that will speed up analytical methods development. Methodologies with proven success are highly desirable.
