The Hungarian research team is based in the Research Laboratory of the Department of Medicine, in the University. The team consists of experts in cardiology and clinical research&biostatistics and has its main focus of interest in heart failure.
The aim of the research work is to study heart failure as a complex disease, and to provide useful genetic- and plasma biomarkers to predict adverse clinical events and to guide therapy.
The technology is a new way of heart failure prognosis. It consists of a method, reagent and kit for prognosing heart failure in a patient who had been diagnosed to have heart failure.
The inventors identified a small pertinacious molecule belonging to the inflammatory system as a novel, NT-proBNP independent marker for prognosing heart failure.
The developers and the owners of the technology would like to licence out the technology.

- The novel marker significantly improves clinical prediction of heart failure compared to currently available prediction markers (eg. NT-proBNP).
- The novel marker is related to the edematous complications of heart failure in a NT-proBNP independent way, so it represents a novel therapeutic modality for patients with heart failure.
