Many individuals are increasingly taking multiple medications for various ailments. These medications often produce undesired side effects, including, but not limited to: mood swings, changes in appetite, lethargy, headaches, altered sleeping patterns, bladder sensitivity, oral dryness and taste modifications. Our client seeks technologies, safe for human use, which would act on muscarinic or nicotinic receptors to bring back the natural function of these body systems or alleviate side effects of medication.
The successful technology will:
" Reversibly interact with muscarinic or nicotinic receptors
- Able to demonstrate interaction in vitro" Offer short term stability in a biological environment" Preferably be a natural ingredient1 or generally recognized as safe2 (GRAS)" Be safe for daily human use (contact)" Address the following time scales:
- Rapid onset
- Long acting, >60 min
- Ideally deliver sustained effect up to 4 hrs
