Novel User Interface that Can Transmit the Sense of Touch (12 LU 87GA 3NZX)
A large US company is looking for collaboration partners for commercial development using "user interface (UI) technology that can transmit the sense of touch".
They are interested in improvement of existing products, development of new products, establishment of new technologies and development of new businesses.
Country: Luxembourg
Type: REQUEST
Date: 09.03.2012
Advantages of this user interface include the facts that it is small and light, can present a sense of touch in two dimensions, and is energy saving. It has the following advantages over related existing technologies:
Compared to joysticks and steering wheels with force feedback, it can be made much more compact.
Different from the vibrating (one dimensional) motor that is used with portable devices, it has abilities such as presenting a sense of touch in two dimensions, so it can be used for complex functions.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
Requirements of business partners:
-Interested in doing their own business development using this interface (its advantages will be described below) in order to strengthen existing businesses and make new businesses possible, after receiving a technical license from the client.
-Have ideas related to applications to this user interface and are interested in collaboration with the client to develop new businesses.
Strength of the technology
Uses a "two dimensional actuator" that combines a sensor with a compact, two-dimensional linear motor to perform the following types of simulations:
-Able to reproduce the sensations of touching, switching on/off, etc, by a physical movement:
Three dimensional unevenness or undulation
Vibration movement, etc.
Heaviness, elasticity
-Able to output two dimensional input information (two dimensional movement) in remote locations.
Degree of development:
Patents/Rights:
Requested Cooperation: Testing of new applications, Adaptation to specific needs, New way to use an existing production line Responses from companies (large or small, startups, etc.), hospital or academic researchers, contract research institutes, pharmacologists, nutritionists, medicinal chemists, drug formulators, biochemists, physiologists, alternative or traditional medicine providers, etc., from around the world are all welcome.
-Device with a force feedback function:
Compared to existing joysticks and steering wheels, with a force feedback function, the system can be made much more compact.
-High functional mouse:
Various applications become possible by putting this two dimensional actuator into a mouse and combining it with software. Ex. You can feel as if you are touching images displayed on a website.
-UI for a tablet, PC or cell phone:
Compared to a single function such as a vibration, this is able to provide various kinds of touch sensations.
-Operation console with a touch panel:
Bt applying this technology to operation console with a touch panel, you can reproduce the sense of pressing or sense of shift that was lost through conversion of touch panel.
-UI for TV game:
You can feel the weight of viscosity of an object, or the elasticity of a spring, and it can provide an expression of reality in combination with image information.
-UI for control panel of vehicles:
Can be applied to the groups of switches found around the steering wheel, to provide a sense of clicking multiple switches through a single UI.
-UI for visually impaired persons:
By conveying the stroke order of characters to the fingers, it can convey better information than with Braille.
-Textbooks and encyclopedias:
By adding properties such as unevenness, feel of the material, elasticity and viscosity to image information, it can convey information other than visual information.
-Electronic picture books and greeting cards:
Provides sense stimuli when the cursor is placed on an image, or provides a sense of touch message that traces out a message that is not visible on the screen.
-Communication through sensation:
When used simultaneously by multiple users, finger movements can convey intended cursor movements.
-Virtual musical instruments:
Expresses the sensation of a reactive force in the image of a guitar string or keyboard.
