Pre-Qualified Open Source Real-Time Operating System for Embedded Systems (12 NL 1D1D 3NVW)
A Portuguese software company is providing a fully supported, pre-qualified and Open Source Real-Time Operating System (RTEMS). It is currently being used by the European Space community and with possible usage in embedded systems applications in other worldwide industries (e.g. the automotive, medical and telecommunication).
Upon a company/project agreement the final user can have access to a qualifiable open source real-time operating system.

RTEMS is the Real-Time Operating System for Multiprocessor Systems, it is full featured real-time operating system, open-source and provides a high performance environment for embedded systems applications.
The qualifiable version is a new RTEMS ready to be used in ESA space missions (TRL 6 Product Release). This version is being considered as a building block of ESA's technologies. The qualification process was performed using the Galileo Software Standards for a Development Assurance Level B.
The community version of RTEMS is currently being used in several industries as:

In the frame of the work performed, the team has developed the expertise to qualify open source on-board software.
Innovative Aspects:
The qualifiable version of RTEMS, RTEMS Improvement, provides an affordable real-time operating system for companies and projects. The operating system is provided as open source and could be easily edited and modified by the end user. Compared to the community version, the RTEMS Improvement version improves in quality, reliability (100% tested in statement and decision coverage) and performance of the software (61 directives are faster and 34 are slower). The product was developed using the innovative Galileo Software Standards process for the Development Assurance Level B.
The data-package includes the complete User Manual, requirements and design that simplifies the usage of the product.
