A SME located in south of Italy (Calabria Region) founded by university researchers and professionals, has developed mathematical models and a business games framework that reproduce, by simulation, real competitive environments.
The system reproduces the cause-effect relationships that takes place among the key variables (internal and external) in business environments in order to simulate the effectiveness of different potential actions carried out by enterprises. The company is looking for partner for technical and/or commercial cooperation.

The new solution is a general framework to build business games and implementing mathematical models that reproduce real competitive environments. It is based on an innovative software architecture which allows to create and manage, in a flexible way, business simulations in different application contexts. The solution supports the definition of "personalised" business games that might be focused on specific economic scenarios.

Its core is a powerful meta-language that is used to describe:
- the economic model for companies and market (in terms of a set of variables);
- the interaction between companies and market;
- the graphical interface (i.e. the relationship between economic variables and their graphical representation).

Thus, a new "game" can be created in a simple way by defining its economic model and, eventually, the graphical rendering.

Further planned extensions include the automatic extraction of business models from real data so that an organisation might be able to tailor the business simulation on its own real features.

Furthermore, combining the potentialities of his architecture with an accurate analysis of the ICT sector, the Company developed an innovative business game that simulates such competitive environment.

The system is able to trace the dynamics of ICT economic-competitive environment with a mathematical model and to simulate strategy, decisions, ties, resources and elements of Randomness/unpredictability.

In the ICT sector, the performance of the firms and the competitive advantage are influenced by his "intellectual business capital": competences of the personnel, the innovation, the relationships with the stakeholder, the ability to develop an incessant virtuous circle of creation, develop, sharing and diffusion of the knowledge.

The business game for ICT allows:
" the definition of a methodology "with score" that decomposes the intellectual capital in its principal components (human, relational and structural capital) and individualises a series of meaningful indicators, useful to measure the performance of the intangible assets;" the definition of a methodology of multidimensional evaluation of the process of simulation (with the evaluation of economic-financial indicators and of intangible assets).

Innovative Aspects:
The system has been developed in Java, and the client/server interface is XML-based to ensure portability and enable the deployment of the application for different platforms, including mobile devices.

The Company is currently focusing on technologies for connectivity and interoperability among different platforms (with a special attention for mobile devices). An open-source Java library has developed to make abstract networks among virtual machines, called JUppernet. It enables the programmer to exploit in a transparent way the resources of the different physical networks.
In particular, for Bluetooth connections, the whole network layers has been implemented, as it is not available in the standard Bluetooth stack.
In this way, it is possible to create networks among Java devices of any nature, as well as interconnect very-local area networks (based on Bluetooth, infrared, USB, serial cable, etc.) with wide area networks (Internet, SMS, etc.).

Business simulations can be exploited profitably in the training of managers, as well as of students from economy schools. Within these fields, the solution developed may be targeted for both public and private subjects. For instance:
- High schools, e.g. to support working groups on basic market concepts;
- University classes and post-academic courses for playing with complex scenarios;
- Companies to train employees and managers or to simulate business alternatives (possibly on a model representing the company);
Any person (students, young entrepreneurs, etc.) interested in self-learning.
