A real-time voting mashup for live video broadcasts. (12 HU 5010 3NXL)
A Hungarian SME has developed a technology to manage feedback and voting on live video broadcast. This solution can query viewers' feedback real-time, during a recorded or a live video broadcast. This feedback is not only useful for the service provider, but also makes watching videos interactive and fun. It can be used by web content providers for broadcasting sports and political debates, TV-shows etc. The company is seeking partners for technical cooperation to generate new projects.

The company is a Hungarian software developer and system integrator enterprise. This company founded iWiW, the most popular Hungarian social networking service (years before Facebook started), and later sold this service to T-Online (a Deutche Telekom subsidiary). The system currently has 4 million registered users and a page impression rate of more than 25 million a day. iWiW is still operated and developed by this company. Main technology competences: Java, Oracle, MySQL, PHP, Lucene development and operation & maintainence of high traffic web services.
The technology itself can manage the real-time voting process of live video stream or content. While users are watching live or recorded video content, they can express their negative or positive option (e.g. applause or booing), as well as can answer editor's questions (e.g. Would you like to see minor parties in the Parliament?"). Since these questions are asked within a short timeframe, content providers can receive impulsive and open reactions. The system supports the creation of "fan clubs", users can declare before the voting starts whom they support (e.g before a football game). This makes the interpretation of viewers' opinion easier. Users can also send text messages via Twitter. By using a simple embed code, the player can easily be embedded into any online portal, thus sharing and promoting the video content is easier. Detailed and timed statistics are created of the voting.
It is important to note that this technology handles live video content by integrating products of other service providers, so the system is platform independent.
The service is regularly used by origo.hu, Hungary's most visited news portal.
