Software for workflow and document management based on XML and Java technology (BICBA029)
A small Slovakian software company is offering a product for workflow management and document management based on XML (extended modelling language). They use Java technology (EJB (Enterprise Java beans), JMS (Java Messaging Services), JMX (Java Management Extensions), etc.) and Microsoft.NET for the front-end application. Interested partners are sought to co-operate at the level of equipment implementation.

It is an application for modelling of business processes in graphical form. It offers tools for visual modelling of the process, as well as tools for configuration of execution specific parameters for each step in the process. It is also able to manage process execution, testing and optimisation.
In the modelled process it is possible to create connections between back-end systems, real-time data transformations and business rules of modelled process. This way it can helps users to optimise their business processes and automate their execution, as well as maximise utilisation of their existing IT infrastructure.
The modelled business process is executed by process engine, in this case by special server. This server handles the execution of all steps in the process. Every activity is recorded to system log and can be analysed later. Based on this information it is possible to further optimise the automated process to increase the effectiveness of business processes.
Innovative Aspects:
It is technology that enables connection of multiple disparate back-end applications and data sources that were never intended to operate together. It allows systems to read and interpret all data, XML (extended modelling language) and non-XML, that is in the system and passes it along to any other system. It is possible to perform real-time data transformation and routing based on unique business rules. With the help of this sftware opplication all this is achieved in graphical point-and-click approach with little to no coding, and without program changes to any of the connected systems. Because the computer environment in companies varies, this utilises a flexible modular architecture. It comes with built-in adapters that enable software integration with various databases such as Oracle and MS SQL (simple query language). Other adapters transfer data through different protocols like e-mail, HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol) and JMS (Java Messaging Services). It also has flexible architecture that allows extending functionality of it with new adapters to further fulfil the users' needs. Special adapters can also be created, and for this the company can perform custom development.
